The Full Story

Cooney Homes began as a family business, with sons Bill and John learning the trade side by side from their father. The company’s roots trace back to 1964, when William P. Cooney Sr. (Bill) began his career in the home building industry as a manager at Wickes Lumber Company. Bill married Kathy Clyde and in 1978, Bill built an English Tudor home for his family. Fueled by his love of building, he started creating homes for others, and Cooney Homes was born.

Bill Sr. raised his children immersed in the home building industry. Bill and John started by helping on job sites and gradually worked their way into supervisory roles, gaining years of experience and education along the way. Cooney Homes grew as a true family enterprise, with John working closely with his father. Bill Sr. believed a home is where families grow, laugh, and make memories. His homes were built to be enjoyed for generations. Since Bill Sr. built his family’s first home, much has changed at Cooney Homes. Bill passed away in 2006, but his legacy lives on. His sons Bill and John continue to honor their father’s vision, building homes where families can make lasting memories.
